If you haven’t heard of tanning bed gook you aren’t alone. Most tanning bed users simply aren’t aware of it. Gook isn’t really exciting but if you’ve used a
tanning bed you have produced this gook and it will always be there because you lie on the bed naked. It is a filmy mix of sweat and lotions that come off the skin each time it is laid on.
It will build up on the bed – there is no way around it – and it can age the tanning bed’s acrylic very quickly. That’s exactly why tanning salons need to disinfect the tanning beds after every use, because if it doesn’t you will spread it from one person to another.
You need to use disinfectants that are designed for tanning bed acrylic. Glass cleaner will just make the acrylic become foggy and that means the tanning process will not be as good. Over time it could make the bed useless.
Tanning bed disinfectants like Sanibed or Lucasol and work well on commercial and home beds. By controlling the goop you reduce the risk of damage to the skin from the goop.
If you use a tanning bed use a good disinfectant to ensure you kill all deadly bacteria and so you can have a clean tan.
